The devil has a long history of trying to exalt himself above God. In Isaiah 14:13, we see an account of this:

“You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend into heaven and exalt my throne above the stars of God. I will rule on the mountain of the congregation, on the highest place of the sacred mountain’” (Isaiah 14:13 TPT).

Even after being cast out of heaven, that ole rascal hasn’t stopped. Satan works hard to make God look like a liar, and sadly, he has succeeded time and time again. The devil convinces people that their prayers haven’t worked. He exalts himself in the form of pain, sickness, death, and poverty.

When pain screams in our bodies, or when we feel trapped in poverty, or when we think God hasn’t heard our prayers, we are tempted to exalt those lies above the Word of God. Anything contrary to Scripture that we hold onto becomes dangerous because it is not God’s will for us. God tells us plainly: “Choose life” (Deuteronomy 30:19).

John 10:10 tells us the only thing the thief has in mind is to kill, steal, and destroy! Good news, friends! Jesus came to give us abundant life! The definition of the word abundant in this context, as defined in Strong’s Concordance, is: “over and above, more than is necessary, superadded.”

The very moment pain shoots through your body or doubt enters your mind is the exact moment to take that attack captive. Pain may scream loudly, but that is your opportunity to boldly decree and declare to the kingdom of darkness:

“Pain, sickness, disease, poverty—you will not rule here. I exalt the Word of the LORD in this temple. I have been redeemed according to Romans 3:22–24. No curse can land on me without a cause (Proverbs 26:2). I renounce every attack in the Name of Jesus and plead the Blood that has redeemed me from the curse of the law.”

When you begin to give God praise and glory, watch that pain flee as you resist it with the Word. It may try to land again. Sometimes your healing manifests in minutes; other times it takes days of standing firm. But each time you resist, the enemy is reminded that he is a defeated foe.

Taking authority by speaking the Word is not a magic spell. If we treat it like one, results will not come. Authority is not found in empty words but in a continual relationship with God. It is about being in Him—dwelling in the secret place of God where nothing can touch you. The more time you spend in His presence, the quicker and easier it is to break free from bondage. Satan tries so hard to convince us that God is a liar, but the truth stands: It is impossible for God to lie! (Numbers 23:19, Titus 1:2, and Hebrews 6:18)

We see three times where the Bible tells us God cannot lie. According to 2 Corinthians 13:1, “By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established.”

Whatever God speaks comes to pass because faith works through love—and God is love. He loves us so much that He made a way of escape through the sacrificial Blood of His only Son, Jesus. His very Blood purchased every cell of our bodies. It was Jesus’ Blood that brought us into fellowship with the Father as His children.

He is worthy of being exalted—in our bodies, in our finances, in every word we speak, and in every moment of fellowship with Him. When we trust the Blood, we are choosing life, hope, and victory over every lie of the enemy.
