Throughout Scripture, there is a theme that appears again and again—the fire of God. It is more than a symbol. It is the manifested presence, purity, and power of Almighty God. Hebrews 12:29 tells us, “Our God is a consuming fire,” echoing Moses’ words in Deuteronomy 4:24, “The LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.” There Moses uses the covenant name Yud‑Hey‑Vav‑Hey. God reveals Himself as holy fire.

When the Angel of the Lord appeared to Moses, He came in a flame that burned in the midst of a bush—yet the bush was not consumed (Exodus 3:2). This was no natural fire. It was supernatural glory: fire that illuminates without destroying. Later, when God descended on Mount Sinai, the entire mountain shook and billowed with smoke. But the “smoke” was not from burning wood. It was the visible glory of God filling the mountain.

God led Israel through the wilderness in the same way. By day, He appeared in a pillar of cloud; by night, in a pillar of fire that lit the desert so brightly a nation could travel as though it were day (Exodus 13:21). Wherever God’s fire appears, holiness is revealed. Fire purifies. Fire exposes. Fire judges. Nothing unclean can stand in His presence.

Even angels are connected to this heavenly fire. Isaiah saw the seraphim—whose very name means “fiery ones”—crying, “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts” (Isaiah 6:2-3). “…and the house was filled with smoke” (Isaiah 6:4).

In Judges 13:20, the Angel of the Lord ascended to heaven in the flame of the altar. Heaven’s fire is active. It moves. It accomplishes purpose.

But what does this have to do with us?

Everything.

John the Baptist said Jesus would baptize believers with the Holy Spirit and fire (Matthew 3:11). That fire is not destructive—it is purifying and empowering. The same holiness that surrounded the burning bush now lives inside every born‑again believer. You are a carrier of the flame.

On the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came with a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and tongues as of fire rested on each believer. They were filled with the Spirit, empowered to speak, and thousands were saved. The fire fell—and the world changed.

That same fire is available today. Wherever you go becomes holy ground because the Spirit of God lives in you. Let the flame burn. Let His presence shine. The world still needs the fire of heaven, and God has placed it inside you.
