Last month, I shared an article about why some Christians do not vote. I discussed the phrase "separation of church and state" and how some Christians use that phrase to argue that believers should not be involved in politics.

I won't go into that here, except to say that phrase is not found in any of our founding documents. Our Founding Fathers were saying that the government would not establish a state religion that everyone would be required to follow.

Another reason some Christians do not vote is because they do not fully understand the way our Constitution and system of government were established. Many Christians today do not know our history. They have not forgotten our history; they simply never learned it.

Many do not realize that our Founding Fathers were Christians. They recognized that it was the providence of God that established this nation. After all, we defeated the most powerful nation on earth at that time.

Our Founding Fathers studied every form of government that had ever existed. They settled upon a Constitutional Republic based on the Word of God and a Judeo-Christian set of values. The name United States of America has even been said to mean “The Land of the Covenants.”

Today, there are many places where you can learn about our history: David Barton and WallBuilders, Rick Green and Patriot Academy, Hillsdale College, and Andrew Wommack's Charis Bible College, to name a few.

Here is the Scripture they used to establish our three branches of government:

Isaiah 33:22

For the LORD is our Judge,

The LORD is our Lawgiver,

The LORD is our King;

He will save us.

The government they settled upon was a Constitutional Republic, not a democracy. In a Constitutional Republic, the people elect leaders to represent them. Everyone has a voice. In a democracy, the majority rules.

We are now living in a time when many of our leaders are no longer Christians. In fact, we have some very wicked leaders in our government. Many of them want to change our form of government. They actually hate our Constitution and are trying to destroy America.

How can that be? Christians have allowed it. We have sat on the sidelines and allowed evil to enter our houses of government, even our judicial system, on every level.

These leaders hate our country and the biblical principles upon which we stand. We must stop this takeover. There are enough Christians in America to rule and reign, and guess what? That is what we are supposed to be doing. We do that by praying and voting.

I recently heard that there are between 40 and 80 million Christians who do not vote. That’s terrible.

It is our responsibility to elect righteous leaders to office. Sometimes it is difficult to know who is righteous because of all the attack ads.

But remember, you are not voting for a person’s appearance, personality, manner of speaking, or tone of voice. You should find out what they stand for, review their past voting record if they have one, and learn which groups and organizations are funding their campaigns.

“Oh,” you say, “that sounds like work.”

Yes, it is. But it is our responsibility as citizens of the United States. Are they Christians? Do they love America? Do they love and support Israel?

There are enough Christians in America to rule and reign, and that is what we are supposed to be doing. We really do have a say in who gets elected.

Isaiah 9:6-7 – For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

That scripture is talking about Jesus. And if we are the Body of Christ, then the government is on us. The shoulders are in the body.

God created man to rule and reign and have dominion on the earth. We see that in Genesis 1:26,28:

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness, let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” And God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Proverbs 29:2 tells us, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan.”

We have some groaning going on in our states and cities right now. I could mention Michigan, Minnesota, California, and even Texas.

I would like to rewrite that verse to say: “When the righteous vote righteous leaders into office, the people rejoice.”

We have a President who recently rededicated our nation to God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Psalm 33:12 – Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.

Psalm 94:20 – Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law, have fellowship with You?

I truly believe that we will be held accountable before God in Heaven for whether we voted and how we voted. So, if you have not already voted, go vote. It is very important.

One more thing: Pastor Ryan did an excellent job teaching on this subject on Thursday night, October 15. It would be well worth your time to watch his message.
