Sometimes, God will give you an assignment to pray about. It could be for someone in your family, a person you know who is not saved, your city, county, state, or nation—or even people from another nation.
The important thing about God assignments is to do them until you are told to stop or the unction to pray on that has lifted. God is always looking for people to stand in the gap for others.
Ezekiel 22:30 – “So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.”
I want to share a couple of prayer assignments I have received.
One night I heard in the Spirit the word “Dardanelles.” It was a strange word and something I knew nothing about. So, I got up and looked it up. The Dardanelles is a narrow strait and internationally significant waterway in northwestern Turkey that forms part of the continental boundary between Asia and Europe and separates Asian Turkey from European Turkey. Sounds like a pretty important place.
I went about my morning routine and maybe prayed a little on it. As I was walking up the steps from my basement after my workout, I heard the Lord say, “I told you to pray for the Dardanelles.” It was a rebuke and very serious. I immediately repented and contacted my prayer group; I told them I needed prayer help now on this subject. So, we prayed, and it lifted. I don’t know exactly what was going on there, but the Lord needed prayers sent there.
On January 7, 2023, I heard the word “Infrastructure.” It was very loud. This time, I knew I had to get up and pray. I looked up the word and this is what I found: “The basic physical and organizational structure and facilities needed for the operation of a society or enterprise.” Infrastructure includes these six areas:
1. Transportation – Roads, railways, waterways, airways
2. Telecommunication Facilities – Phones, internet, cables, satellites
3. Educational Systems – Schools, colleges, universities
4. Health Care Systems – Professionals, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies
5. Sanitary Systems – Clean food and water
6. Monetary Systems– Stock market, banks, loan institutions
For a year, I prayed on this almost daily, yet I never heard the word “infrastructure” mentioned anywhere. Now this word is heard in the news and on social media just about every day. The Lord is never behind—He is always ahead. I will keep praying for this until the Lord tells me to stop.
Sometimes, you get prayer assignments from other people.
Many of you have heard Pastor Loretta talk about a dream she had in which she was told to take authority over five demonic spirits—fear, death, deception, destruction, and defilement. Well, she passed that on to us as pray-ers. So, I pray on that from time to time.
Some of you may be familiar with Billye Brim and Max who have given us an assignment to pray every Wednesday at 8:00 AM and at noon. Billye and the Worldwide Pray-ers pray for 15 minutes in the Spirit, other tongues. Max, a former Muslim who came to Jesus, hears Billye praying in Arabic, his native tongue. He writes the interpretation down in perfect English, with every word spelled correctly. We have been doing this for four and a half years. Not everyone is called to this assignment, but about 2,000 people are on the call each week from all over the world.
However, this church is a big part of this prayer. Pastor Loretta was told by the Spirit of God that we are to close the circle. What does that mean?
The prayer call is on Wednesdays, and there are lots of groups that pray over the notes throughout the week. Max’s church does that on Wednesday night. I know another group prays on Thursdays, another on Sundays, and another on Mondays. There are probably many more who pray out the notes. We, according to the direction given by Pastor Loretta, pray over the notes on Tuesdays. This is our assignment—to close the circle. Then on Wednesday we begin the process over again.
If you are a WWP (World Wide Pray-er), then come join us on Tuesdays at 1:30 PM at WOW Faith Church to close the circle.
I’ve been talking about prayer assignments, but this can apply to any assignment the Lord wants you to do. Hear and do. Be faithful.
You may get a prayer assignment and not even realize it is a prayer assignment.
• If a name comes up in your mind, that is probably an assignment that they need prayer.
• If someone’s face comes up before you, pray for them.
• Some assignments can be momentary, while others last a long time.
First Corinthians 4:2 “Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.”
I encourage you to recognize an assignment from God and be faithful to pray about it.
One last thing. Recently I heard the Lord say, “I need your voice.” I have meditated on that, and that is so true. You really can’t do much for the Lord without your voice. Just like every single person on the planet has a unique fingerprint, every single person has a unique voice also.
• You may visit the orphans and widows, or those in prison, but if you don’t speak encouraging words, what good does that do?
• You can lay hands on the sick (and we should), but what good does that do without declaring healing over them?
• You can’t get anyone saved without declaring—with your voice—the gospel to them.
I used to dislike the sound of my voice—but God loves it. He gave me this voice, and I will use it to further the gospel.
God needs you!!! He needs your voice!! PRAY!
