Through the first two parts of this article, we have basically established that the same Blessing that was on Abraham has passed on to us through inheritance. Scripture also shows that sickness does not exist in that Blessing. This is actually reinforced in Colossians 1:13 (KJV): “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness (where the curse exists) and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.” (Where the Blessing exists, there is no sickness—for there is no sickness in the kingdom of heaven.)

We must remember, as Jesus told us in John 17:14, that we are not of the world, just like He is not of the world. Why? Because:

We are born of God (John 1:13)

We are born of the Spirit (John 3:5-6)

We are born of the incorruptible Word of God (1Peter 1:23)

We are born from above—heaven, where there is no disease (John 3:3)

The Blessing on Israel

Can we mention one other thing about this Blessing that was on Israel? In Numbers 23, when they were camped in Moab, Balak was fearful of their numbers and hired Balaam to curse them. In verses 19-23, Balaam told Balak that God had blessed them, and he absolutely could not reverse it. He went on to say in verse 23 that there is no enchantment against Israel. In other words, no witchcraft could overcome that Blessing

Also, verse 21 tells us that God beheld no iniquity in them. In other words, at this point they were keeping God’s covenant with them, and the Blessing remained intact.

Therefore, although it was impossible for Balaam to curse them with witchcraft, Revelation 2:14 tells us that he taught Balak to cast a stumbling block for them to commit fornication and to serve their gods. What Balaam could not do spiritually, he accomplished by simply tempting their flesh. They put themselves out from under the Blessing. Selah...

Catalysts

A catalyst is a component that is added to the mix in order to initiate or speed up a process or reaction. We find a few of them in Scripture.

Faith – A good one is found in Hebrews 4:2 where we are told that the gospel preached to Israel back then did not profit them, “not being mixed with faith.” With no faith thrown into the mix, the Word remains dormant.

Hope – Another catalyst is found in Hebrews 1:1 where we find that faith is the substance of things hoped for. Hope is simply the positive use of the imagination with the Word of God to see what is unseen. Without hope thrown into the mix, faith has nothing to give substance to.

Now, to reveal one other extremely important catalyst, and the final piece of our puzzle, let’s revisit a couple of scriptures.

The Tithe as Catalyst

Remember, God spoke the Blessing upon Abraham in Genesis 12:2-3, and he became very great and rich (Genesis 13:2). In chapter 14, after Abraham rescued Lot and slaughtered the enemy kings and took all their goods, he met with Melchizedek, who brought bread and wine, blessed Abraham again, and Abraham gave him tithes of all.

Later, in verses 22-23, the King of Sodom offered Abraham the spoils for winning the battle. Abraham refused, saying he wouldn’t accept even a thread from him, because he didn’t want anyone saying he was blessed except by God Himself. His faith was demonstrated every time he gave a tithe to the Lord.

Fast forward to Jacob. In Genesis 27:28-29, the Blessing was passed down to him. In chapter 28, Jacob dreamed of the ladder to heaven, and God speaks to him of this Blessing. In verse 14, He says that Jacob’s seed shall be as the dust of the earth. In other words, “be fruitful and multiply.” He goes on to say. “I am with you and I will not leave you.” Jacob answered, “Ok, if that Blessing is on me and You will be with me and keep me and provide like You say, then You are my God and I will surely give the tenth to You.”

So, I believe that even though the Blessing was already on Jacob, his promise of the tithe was the point that actually initiated the Blessing to be active in his life.

This principle becomes plain in Malachi 3:8-12. In verse 9, God tells Israel clearly that they are under the curse. Why? Because they withheld the tithe. He instructs them to bring in the tithe, and the Blessing will be poured out upon them once again. Why? Because the tithe kick-starts the Blessing in their lives. Pretty elementary really.

Thus, the tithe itself is a catalyst to activate the Blessing in our lives. And naturally, it takes the catalyst of faith mixed in there to believe God meant what He promised.

So y’all be blessed! And…

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you

may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Ghost. Romans 15:13
